Easing Gridlock in Northern Virginia:

  • Secured $1.5 billion in federal funding for the new Woodrow Wilson Bridge
  • Chief sponsor of legislation that passed the House to overhaul the Metro system and provide an additional $1.5 billion for improvements
  • Secured $12.8 million for the widening of I-95 from the Fairfax County Parkway to the Occoquan
  • Chief sponsor of federal funding for the widening of Rt. 123.
  • Helped secure $28.6 million to widen Rt. 66 inside the beltway
  • Provided $18.2 million in federal funding to VRE for expanded station improvements and additional parking, including the Burke Centre Station Garage, and $1.45 million to study extending VRE to Gainesville and Haymarket
  • Delivered $36 million for the I-66 / Rt. 29 interchange
  • Secured $4.9 million to widen Rt. 29 at the Rt. 123 interchange
